DECEMBER 17, 2020 - After the success of 2019’s Star Trek: Deep Space Nine documentary What We Left Behind, many fans were left wondering just what might happen if Deep Space Nine was brought back for a revival...and fans aren’t the only ones. While promoting his latest film, Skylines, actor Alexander Siddig spoke with CBR, discussing his thoughts on a theoretical Deep Space Nine revival and reprising his role as Dr. Julian Bashir.

When asked if he would come back to the role of Bashir, Siddig gave the obvious answer, saying, "I would be! I'm a bit protective of the character but that goes without saying.” But with so many Star Trek series in production at the moment, Siddig questioned whether a reboot of the series would be successful.

"Maybe in five years, we should try to do a revival of Deep Space Nine,” he suggested, “or, at least, some of the cast members. I don't know about the station.” Siddig went on to suggest that a DS9 revival might be best served by showing audiences a picture of what became of the station’s crew over the past two decades. "I'd love to go back to it,” he said, “part of me would like to go back without serializing it, just give everybody an idea of what some of these characters are doing now because it'd be probably really interesting.”

While you’re waiting for the Deep Space Nine revival to get picked up by CBS (and it could be a while!), you can catch up on all of your favorite episodes from the series, available to stream now on CBS All Access. And be sure to watch Alexander Siddig in the new movie Skylines, out on video-on-demand on Friday, December 18th from Vertical Entertainment.
