CBS Will Air Nintendo World Championships

Splatoon 2 by Nintendo

There’s been much ado in the last week about the recent announcement by CBS that they and Viacom have agreed to merge. But while Hollywood and Wall Street have been reacting to the merger news, for CBS it’s been business as usual: finding new ways to diversify its income through partnerships and new content.

VentureBeat reported last week that CBS has partnered with e-sports brand Eleague to bring this year’s Nintendo World Championships to broadcast television. The tournament took place in June of this year, but the CBS coverage will air, starting in late August. There will be three days of coverage in total, airing Sunday, August 25th at 1pm Eastern, Saturday, September 7th at 2pm Eastern, and Saturday, September 14th at 1:30pm Eastern.

The CBS and Eleague partnership will be the first time that the Nintendo World Championships have aired on TV.
