One question on every Star Trek’s fan’s mind when the Star Trek: Picard teaser trailer came out was: “Wait. Can I buy Chateau Picard wine for myself?” The answer, we learned this week from StarTrek.com, is yes.

Wines that Rock, a brand that calls itself “The Premier lifestyle wine company specializing in bringing one-of-a-kind custom crafted wines together with world-class brands”, has announced a collaboration with the actual Chateau Picard winery in France. They will be initially offering two wines based on the Star Trek IP, with more potentially to come.

The 2016 Chateau Picard Bordeaux is a blend of 85% cabernet sauvignon and 15% merlot, that StarTrek.com describes as “subtly smoky and spicy, with a bright, fresh, clean-tasting style.”

Similarly, the United Federation of Planets wine, a 2017 old vine zinfandel, has a flavor that “boasts aromatics of concentrated strawberry, blackberry and plum preserves with a chewy-layered mid palate filled with hints of white peppercorn, sweet red and black fruit.”

Howard Jackowitz, co-founder of Wines that Rock, said of the venture, “We knew there actually was a Chateau Picard wine being made for several generations in Bordeaux France, long before there was a Jean-Luc Picard [...] So, working together with the Star Trek production team and Chateau Picard wine makers in France, we crafted this limited-edition wine with Jean-Luc’s family label and the wine from this 5th generation vineyard."

The wines will initially be offered as a limited-edition two-pack. For more information, head to startrekwines.com.
