Get ready for Daily Star Trek News' Fandom Fridays!

Last Month as a final project for my research class I submitted a survey to the readers of DSTN asking you all about your experience in the Star Trek fandom. I ended up receiving almost 200 responses! You can read all about my findings in this article

Within the survey there was a free answer portion where people shared so many of their amazing experiences with the Star Trek fandom. It was so amazingly heartwarming to read. Then, after I published the results, even more people reached out sharing their experiences with me. I so enjoyed hearing from everyone and it really opened up my mind to the true diversity of experiences within the Star Trek fandom.

So, with all that in mind, we’ve decided to start FANDOM FRIDAYS! (*insert thunderous applause here*). On the last Friday of every month, I will write an article about a DSTN reader and Star Trek fan who has been kind enough to tell me a bit about themself and their story. We’ll hear about how they got into Star Trek, their favorite parts about Star Trek, what Star Trek fandom means to them, and more! With this new column I’m really hoping to highlight the diversity of experiences within the fandom and show that despite how different we are and despite the disagreements we may have, we’re all united by our love of Trek.

So, if you wish to be a part of Fandom Fridays send an email to info@dailystartreknews.com with a little blurb about yourself and why you love Star Trek. I’m so excited to begin talking to you all!

Aster is a fresh face to Daily Star Trek News, joining the ranks as a contributing writer. Though he may be young, he self-describes as a hardcore nerd, lover of cheese sticks and niche internet discourse. Outside of his long-time obsession with Star Trek, Aster is an avid cosplayer, crocheter, and Catan enthusiast who is attending school for technical theater and design. He's very excited to debut in his "professional nerd career" and finally put all his obscure nerd facts to good use.
