A online petition has been started, calling for a statue of Aron Eisenberg’s Deep Space Nine character, Nog, to be memorialized in Star Trek canon.

The Change.org petition is called “Petition to make Captain Nog statue at starfleet acadamy canon in the new Picard series”. It was started by Emma Gazaway, and has so far garnered over 1,000 signatures since Eisenberg’s death last Saturday. Gazaway wrote in the petition’s introduction: “You could almost say that Aron Eisenberg was born to play this role, if nothing else he gave us all a wonderful gift, Nog. Nog had, by far, the most interesting character arch [sic] in star Star Trek DS9, if not the whole Canon Trek universe. We grew with him, and he with us. His advancement to an officer, as the first ferengi in starfleet on its own deserves recognition in the new series. The friendship and joy that Aron himself brought us, deserves even more.  Thank you Aron, thank you Nog. We love you.”

Change.org allows those who sign the petition to leave messages, indicating their reason for signing. Some signers praised Nog’s strength of character in Deep Space Nine, and some praised Eisenberg personally for his kindness and wonderful personality. The current goal is to get to 1,500 signatures.

So far, no one from the Star Trek: Picard production team has acknowledged the petition.
