Allegiance is coming to BroadwayHD

MARCH 15, 2021 - George Takei’s musical Allegiance is coming to streaming service BroadwayHD later this week. According to a piece in Broadway World, BroadwayHD made the announcement on March 9th that Allegiance would be making its way to its Netflix-like service from March 18th.

Allegiance is based on George Takei’s experience as a Japanese-American in the aftermath of World War II. First performed in San Diego in 2012, and then on Broadway in 2015, Allegiance tells the story of a family whose bonds are tested by how they approach and survive internment after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Sam (played by Telly Leung) enlists in the military to try and prove his allegiance to America, while his sister Kei (played by Lea Salonga) joins the draft resisters. Takei himself plays an aging Sam, whose memories tell the main story.
