Among all the excitement about Star Trek: Picard and the myriad of other shows coming up, the producers of Star Trek have not forgotten about the as-yet-untitled Section 31 show, starring Michelle Yeoh.

Earlier this week, I brought you the story of an interview that Heather Kadin did with AssignmentX.com, from the TCA press tour. In addition to suggesting that we’d see more of the Short Trek “Calypso” sometime down the line, she also gave new details on how much of Philippa Georgiou we can expect to see, before she heads off to her own show.

When asked whether the production team was having debates about how much to use Michelle Yeoh in season 3, Kadin said, “We want to use Michelle Yeoh as much as possible. Our plan is, she’ll be used throughout Season 3. The spinoff wouldn’t happen until after that.” AssignmentX asked to clarify whether the spinoff would happen after season 3, to which Kadin replied, “Or in the middle of Season 3, let’s say, but we have every intention of using her - you’ll see her all of [season 2], and then most of next.”

CBS All Access has not yet confirmed when Discovery season 3 will air, but it is likely to be in 2020. Between now and then, we are expecting six Short Treks (the air dates of which have not been specified) and Star Trek: Picard, which is due to air in the Fall. If Discovery starts in January, like it did this year for season 2, based on Kadin’s comments we could see the Section 31 show in the summer of next year. I do want to be clear though, that’s purely my speculation, and all of these schedules are highly subject to change. I mean, we all remember when Discovery season 1 was slated to start in January of 2017, and was ultimately delayed until that September.
