MARCH 15, 2021 - Hero Collector, the makers of tiny Star Trek starships, have announced a brand new collection of ships from the modern era of Star Trek. From April of 2021, fans will be able to subscribe to the Star Trek Universe monthly collection, featuring model ships from Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Discovery and the upcoming Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. And as part of the launch of the new range, Hero Collector have teamed up with Star Trek Online with a giveaway to support their parent company’s new charity initiative, Perfect World Level Up.

First up: what about those ships? Hero Collector’s new Star Trek Universe collection will operate similar to their Star Trek Starships collection, in that you can subscribe to a monthly shipment of ships, or buy individual ones from select retailers. Each ship in the collection is accompanied by an in-depth magazine with more information about the ship, including interviews with designers.

The Star Trek Universe collection will launch with six ships, all from the first season of Star Trek: Picard. First in line is La Sirena, the red-and-white Kaplan F17 Speed Freighter that Picard commissioned in his search for Soji Asha. That’ll be followed by the U.S.S. Zheng He, Riker’s ship from the same series. Then it’s the retro Romulan Bird of Prey, Seven of Nine’s Fenris Ranger Ship, Narek’s Snakehead scout vessel, and finally the Romulan Bomber Warbird.

All six ships are designed to the same scale as the original Star Trek Starships collection, so the new collection is effectively a continuation.

But what about that charity giveaway?

Announced in January, Perfect World Entertainment, the parent company of Cryptic Studios, makers of Star Trek Online, announced a new charity initiative called Perfect World Level Up. They’ll be partnering with charities to raise awareness and funds through giveaways related to their games and others. Their first charity partner is the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and by making a donation of $5 or more between now and March 18th, you can be entered to win a prize bundle. That bundle includes a digital prize of the Star Trek Online 11th Anniversary Legendary Bundle (worth more than $200), plus the new Star Trek: Picard La Sirena and Star Trek Online Avenger-class Battlecruiser models from Hero Collector. All proceeds from the giveaway contest go directly to Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
