APRIL 8, 2023 - In the midst of the Changeling conflict, fans stress over the whereabouts and safety of little Kestra, Troi and Riker’s youngest child. Kestra, played by Lulu Wilson, first appeared in Star Trek: Picard’s first season in the episode "Nepenthe." Having already lost their son Thad, Terry Matalas assures fans that she is "in early admission at Starfleet Academy. So, safe and sound, unaware that her parents are in jeopardy." With a childhood interest in starships, it makes sense that Kestra would choose that path in life.

While it was decided to omit that bit of knowledge from the script, Matalas assures audiences that Kestra is not currently affected by the chaos surrounding her family. The Picard spin-off series, Star Trek: Legacy, may include her as one of the youngest members of the crew in some fashion, along with other children of beloved characters. Whether or not she would be old enough to join a crew at that time, she will definitely make an appearance in the future as fans follow along with generations of Trek adventures to come.
