JANUARY 9, 2022 - With season two of Star Trek: Picard having wrapped production, everyone’s favorite first officer-turned-director, Jonathan Frakes, is reflecting on his latest efforts behind the camera.

TrekMovie recently summed up a series of interviews Frakes gave regarding season two and the two episodes that he directed. While season one was about catching up with Picard, Frakes sees season two as more about Picard’s crew coming together and functioning as a unit. That crew includes Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine, Michelle Hurd as Raffi, Evan Evagora as Elnor, and Alison Pill as Dr. Jurati.

Frakes also had a chance to further revisit the Star Trek: The Next Generation era working with John de Lancie as Q, and  Annie Wersching as the Borg Queen as well as with Brent Spiner as yet another Soong, and, of course, Sir Patrick Stewart. Referring to de Lancie, Spiner, and Stewart, Frakes said, “The four of us are sitting there and it was like a weekend had passed, but it had been 35 years, or something like that, since we had started this show together.”

Frakes also confirmed that he is directing episodes of season three. Among the current series, he has also directed on Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

While we are wondering about the premiere date for Star Trek: Picard season two, given the hiatus of Star Trek: Discovery season four, you can catch up on season one, now streaming on Paramount+ and available on DVD and Blu-ray.
