NOVEMBER 10, 2021 - A few weeks ago, we told you the one-of-a-kind phaser rifle from the Star Trek: The Original Series episode “Where No Man Has Gone Before” was going up for auction. The prop sold earlier this week for an impressive $615,000, making it one of the most expensive pieces of Star Trek memorabilia out there. Details of the auction came to us by way of a report from TrekMovie.com.

Created by the late Ruben Klamer at Gene Roddenberry’s request, the phaser rifle was used extensively to promote the series. Even so, the prop was only used on screen once, making it an extremely rare piece. The last time the phaser rifle made its way to an auction was 2013. At that time, the rifle sold for $231,000.

Other Star Trek pieces sold in the auction included an original Captain Kirk tunic and pair of boots, with the former signed by William Shatner ($50k), a chair from the Enterprise bridge ($42,500), and additional costume pieces belonging to Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, and Walter Koenig. An original tribble was also auctioned off, bringing in more than $10,600.

While there is no way of knowing when - or if - the phaser rifle will be for sale again in the future, it’s a safe bet that it won’t come cheap. To check out the auction results for yourself, visit entertainment.ha.com.
