SEPTEMBER 7, 2022 - Michelle Yeoh, best known as Philippa Georgiou, of Star Trek: Discovery fame. is possibly the single most awarded Star Trek actress in the 55-year history of the franchise.

It started with the August 2022 announcement that she would be conferred with a Doctorate of Fine Arts by the American Film Institute. And now the actress, also known for the recently released film Everything Everywhere All At Once, will be bringing an additional two awards home as well.

In Canada, during the Toronto International Film Festival, she’ll be receiving an award that had been added to their roster in 2017, the “Share Her Journey Groundbreaker Award”, which addresses ‘gender parity and championing women in front of and behind the camera.

And then, back in the States, as part of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF), she’s also nominated for the 15th annual Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film, which is part of the festival’s year-round educational programs. She will receive this honor Friday, December 9, 2022, at the Ritz-Carlton Bacara during their black-tie ceremony.

In 2001, she was awarded the Darajah Datuk Paduka Mahkota Perak award by the Sultan in her home state of Perak, Malaysia in recognition of the fame that she’s brought to the state. But the list goes on…and on…

But, regardless of where you know her from, no one can deny that she’s an icon and a groundbreaker. The SBIFF and TIFF may be her most recent honors, but they certainly won’t be her last.
