REVIEW: STAR TREK: PICARD'S ACADEMY #4 Packs a Lot Into 20 Pages

One of my favorite parts about writing for DSTN is getting to review comics that I would’ve read and then ranted to my friends about anyway. Now, let me tell you, Picard’s Academy Issue 4 warranted a very large rant to my friends.

Normally I start out my reviews by recapping the comic, however in the case of Issue 4 you just have to read it for yourself. The plot twist is so amazing that I cannot possibly justify recapping and therefore spoiling the comic for this article. However, I can still set the scene.

Today is the day of the big, long awaited, Evasive Maneuvers exam. This exam is huge, it will determine who is top of the class at Starfleet Academy and thus, who will have the opportunity to graduate early. Picard wants more than anything to graduate early. He is ready and eager to leave Earth and reach for the stars, never looking back. However, to achieve his dream, he and his team have to come first place in the Evasive Maneuvers exam.

Though this comic is only a mere 20 pages it sure packs loads of intrigue and excitement into that 20 pages. We get to see the first time Picard ever said “engage” his signature phrase! In addition there is some awesome action from the rest of the crew that I cannot say too much about without spoiling the comic, but trust me when I say, it’s super cool. There is of course also some of the amazing banter that always comes with Picard’s Academy as well as some great humor.

Overall, this issue was awesome and has begun the final (and super epic) arc of Picard’s Academy. I highly recommend you check it out.
