STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE's Rosalind Chao to Voice New Audiobook Edition of THE THREE BODY PROBLEM Ahead of Starring in Netflix Adaptation

In a blend of literary and screen talent, Rosalind Chao, known for her iconic role as Keiko O'Brien in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, is set to narrate the new audiobook edition of Cixin Liu's acclaimed science fiction novel, The Three-Body Problem. According to an announcement from Macmillan Audio, with the audiobook's release scheduled for February 27, 2024. Chao will also portray Ye Wenjie in the Netflix series adaptation of The Three-Body Problem, premiering on March 21, 2024.

Chao's diverse acting repertoire also includes memorable performances as Rose in The Joy Luck Club, Pei Pei in Freaky Friday, Caroline in Better Things, Hua Li in the live-action remake of Mulan, and the villainous Helen Zhang in Netflix’s Sweet Tooth. Her upcoming role in the3 Body Problem series as Ye Wenjie, a key character in Liu's universe, marks a significant milestone in her career.

Reflecting on her dual involvement with the project, Chao expressed her enthusiasm and the unique creative challenge of narrating the audiobook. 

"I had the incredible privilege of bringing Ye Wenjie’s character to life through the TV series adaptation of 3 Body Problem. It was a truly enriching experience," she said. Narrating the audiobook allows her to explore the rich tapestry of characters and the intricate universe Liu has created. "It's a creative challenge that I embrace with enthusiasm, and I can't wait for listeners to hear the audiobook!”

The Three-Body Problem is set against the backdrop of China's Cultural Revolution and unfolds a gripping narrative involving a secret military project that reaches out to alien civilizations. The ensuing drama of potential invasion and the moral quandaries it presents have captivated readers worldwide, making Liu's work a modern classic in science fiction.
