The Science of Star Trek: Thursday, Jun 16

The Carnegie Institution for Science, Earth and Planets Laboratory presents Dr. Michael L. Wong, astrobiologist and host of the Strange New Worlds podcast. “From the Drake equation in Star Trek's original 1964 outline to gravitational waves in Star Trek: Discovery, we'll examine how scientific discoveries underpin this legendary science-fiction franchise's 55-year history.” This virtual Neighborhood Lecture takes place TONIGHT at 6:30pm EDT. FanExpo Dallas: Friday, June 17 – Sunday, June 19

Russ’s Rockin’ Rollercoaster with Dr. Mohamed Noor – Wednesday, June 22

The Regular Stuff

·These are the Twitter watchalongs:

o   #allstartrek runs Sunday through Friday at 8/7C and follows the Heroes and Icons Channel’s All Star Trek programme.

o   #TOSSatNight starts at 9pm PT on Saturday night and follows a different episode of The Original Series every week, and

o   #StarTrekHour is a Q&A-format event, every Tuesday at 1pm PT.

·But wait, there’s more watch partying: Club IDIC hosts a weekly watch party and discussion at 6pm Alberta Time every Friday. The schedule and Zoom links are available at the Club IDIC Facebook page.

·To Proudly Go, a New York-based nonprofit, will be hosting Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 1 viewing parties each Saturday. The gatherings begin at 6:00pm ET at the Barracuda Lounge in New York City. Tickets are free, and vaccination is required. The viewing parties also include Star Trek trivia games, special Star Trek-themed drag performances, two-for-one drinks, fabulous Star Trek prizes, and merchandise. ·Virtual Trek Con presents The Main Viewer every Tuesday - a live discussion show on YT with occasional special guests and an open chat geared towards fan interaction.

·Disco Does DnD - livestream DnD game with DSC actors on Twitch, every Sunday at 1pmPT/4pmET.

·And finally, there’s Sid City Social Club, hosted by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine star Alexander Siddig’s official fan website. They meet twice monthly on the first Tuesday and third Friday of every month, with occasional pop-up meetings with Sid as his schedule allows.
