JUNE 3, 2022 - You might recall the announcement a couple months ago of the return of the bridge crew from Star Trek: The Next Generation for season three of Star Trek: Picard. Now showrunner Terry Matalas is teasing a few more tidbits regarding the upcoming season.

TrekMovie has curated some tweets and other revelations from Matalas, in which he says that in addition to the “not just a reunion” from the TNG cast, there will be a new villain, which at this point we can only call The Villain. But Matalas does say that The Villain is a new character and will be played by someone whom we all know but has never been in Star Trek before.

He is also promising more starships and “nods to the more nautical, cat and mouse submarine-movie elements of those early Trek films….”

There is no release date yet for the new season, but according to Matalas we can look forward to a season three that is “incredibly different from the two seasons before it and features quite possibly, one of the all-time great Star Trek villain performances we’ve seen to date.”
