The Kelvin Timeline’s Captain Kirk may be going undercover. The Hollywood Reporter says Chris Pine, who played Jim Kirk in the three most recent Star Trek films, is in talks to reboot The Saint.

The novels? The Roger Moore TV series? The Val Kilmer film from the 90s? Yes, yes, and yes. There was even a 2017 film version of The Saint, which no one seems to have heard of. So, sure! Re-re-re-reboot Simon Templar, why don’t you?

Presumably, that’s who Pine would play - Simon Templar, aka “The Saint”. “ST.” Get it?

If the deal goes through, Pine will play the character under the guidance of Rocketman director Dexter Fletcher.

But where does that leave Captain Kirk? Sadly, he’s still adrift in the Development Nebula. The most recent speculation is that Noah Hawley’s Star Trek 4 will not include Pine and the rest of the Kelvin cast.

But…“The Saint” is sometimes depicted as a master of disguise. So maybe, we could see Shia LaBeouf as Captain Kirk? But it would actually be Chris Pine as Simon Templar as Shia LaBeouf as Captain Kirk?

There is a lot wrong with a lot of those words.

And no - Shia LaBeouf is not in talks to play Kirk.

Or is he?

Still no.
