Star Trek’s William Shatner sends supportive message to SpaceX astronauts
William Shatner sends good luck to SpaceX astronauts Robert Behnken and Doug Hurley
William Shatner has lent his support to the team at SpaceX, as they venture to launch the first privately-owned, manned rocket into space.
The historic launch of the two-man team of Veteran NASA astronauts Robert Behnken and Doug Hurley was due to take place this Wednesday, May 27th, but it was postponed due to poor weather. The launch has now been rescheduled now for tomorrow, Saturday, May 30th, at 3:22pm ET.
On Wednesday, NASA tweeted out special messages for the crew as they prepared for launch, using the hashtag #LaunchAmerica. Among them, messages from Bill Nye and a performance of the National Anthem by Kelly Clarkson, as well as a video message from Captain Kirk himself, William Shatner.

In the video, Shatner says, “I’m there with you guys in spirit. Bob, Doug, good luck. I know you’ll be fine. I’ll be watching and got everything crossed. Arms, legs, I’m tied in a knot. Can’t wait for you to get back safely.” NASA captioned the video, “Thanks for your well wishes for our #LaunchAmerica journey, Captain! Let’s boldly go.”
