Terry Matalas Dishes On the Latest Addition to the Pantheon of 'Star Trek' Starships, the U.S.S. Titan

The U.S.S. Titan-A as seen in the STAR TREK: PICARD season 3 trailer.

SEPTEMBER 21, 2022 - Terry Matalas spills even more beans about Star Trek: Picard season 3. The season 3 trailer showed another sneak peek at the new U.S.S. Titan-A that will be the main hero ship this season.

Matalas tells us that the ‘official’ designation for the new class of ship is a “Neo-Constitution, or a Constitution III” class starship. He then mentioned that the ship was designed by a fan, Bill Krause. The construction was heavily influenced by the Titans that have come before. The ship that Will Riker commanded, the U.S.S. Titan was a “Luna class” ship that was damaged (No surprises there, Will) and retired. Some of the ship’s systems were refitted and used in the new ship.

In honoring the ships that have come before, the showrunner tells us to be on the lookout in the observation room where we’ll see the ever-familiar gold models of the previous ships bearing the name U.S.S. Titan. One is the Luna class ship as seen in Star Trek: Lower Decks as well as a Shangri-La class, which is a bit of a TOS Constitution ship, on the wall.
