It was today, November 18th, back in 1989, that actor Phumzile Sitole was born. The South African actor is known to Star Trek fans as Captain Ndoye of the United Earth Defense Force. She made her franchise debut in the Star Trek: Discovery season three episode “People of Earth”.

Outside of Star Trek, Sitole is known for her role as Sharise on the CBS All Access original series The Good Fight, as well as for her role as Akers on the Netflix series Orange is the New Black.

Our friends at Trek Report recently interviewed Sitole about her appearance on Discovery, about which she said, “I love the show and find the Star Trek universe and its stories quite poignant and powerful.”
