Toronto’s Mayor John Tory Dresses as a Star Trek Admiral for Halloween

Toronto’s Mayor John Tory wore his support for Star Trek: Discovery on his sleeve yesterday - literally. Tory dressed up as a Starfleet Admiral for Halloween.

Tory took to Twitter yesterday morning to say, “Dressed up as an Admiral from @StarTrek: Discovery today to highlight our incredible film sector – a sector that I want to make sure lives long and prospers here in Toronto.” He followed the statement with the hashtags #MadeHereSeenEverywhere and #xoTO.

The tweet attracted the attention of one of Star Trek: Discovery’s most famous Admirals, actor Jayne Brook, who retweeted him, saying, “A welcome addition to the Admiralty!”

In addition to simply dressing for the day, Mayor Tory took the time to trick or treat with some local children. In a video from CityNews Toronto, Tory attempted to explain to the children what a Starfleet Admiral is, with limited success. In an interview afterward, Tory explained that the costume was in tribute to Star Trek: Discovery, because of the great economic impact the show’s production has had on the local area. He said, “It was my pleasure to be able to put on one of the Star Trek admirals’ uniforms.”

Later in the evening, Tory took his own kids out trick-or-treating in the costume as well. Sadly his girls didn’t join in on the Star Trek theme, and instead opted for Disney Princesses.
