JANUARY 11, 2021 - The yet unnamed Star Trek: Voyager documentary, which resumed filming in August after a lengthy break due to the pandemic, is about to enter its next phase of production: crowdfunding. 455 Films, the same group which brought fans For the Love of Spock and the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine documentary What We Left Behind, has been hard at work on the new Voyager documentary and are looking to raise the bar yet again. ComicBook.com brought us the news of the upcoming campaign, which is set to begin in March.

Voyager actor Garrett Wang made the announcement in a short video posted to the documentary’s Twitter page. In the video, Wang described the love that fans showed for DS9 and What We Left Behind, exclaiming, “We deserve the love, too!” Wang went on to say that contributors will have the option to preorder a copy of the documentary, with access to additional rewards for supporting the project.

While there aren’t any details yet on what 455 Films plans to use the funds for, their goals are likely to fall along similar lines as the What We Left Behind documentary. When Executive Producer David Zappone and the 455 Films team looked to the fans for support to “beef up” the DS9 documentary with extended interviews, a bespoke musical score, and remastered HD footage, the response was overwhelming. It seems that Zappone and his team might be hoping for a similar result with the new campaign for the Voyager documentary.

If you’re interested in contributing, the crowdfunding campaign officially begins March 1. Until then, be sure to follow The Voyager Documentary (@VOYDocumentary) on Twitter for updates on the film’s progress.
