AUGUST 17, 2022 - Since September 2020, retailer Walmart has been entering the fray of online retailing by offering its Walmart+ program, which provides members with same-day delivery on a wide variety of products. Now it is adding another enticement to its membership program.

According to Variety, beginning in September, following a deal with Paramount Global, Walmart+ membership will include access to Paramount+, home of the Star Trek universe. Specifically, the ad-driven Paramount+ Essential plan (which also includes some access limitations) will be added to the benefits of Walmart+ membership.

Paramount’s chief strategy officer and chief business development officer, Jeff Schultz, said, “Walmart customers connect with Paramount’s beloved brands, content and characters every day through a range of consumer products available throughout Walmart stores. Now, pairing Walmart’s expansive reach across the country with Paramount+’s broad and popular content that offers something for everyone is a unique opportunity to expand our partnership.”

Walmart has also been reported to be in talks with Disney and Comcast about bundling deals.
