DECEMBER 6, 2021 - First, Captain James T. Kirk went into space on television, in Star Trek: The Original Series. Then, William Shatner, who portrayed Captain Kirk, went into space for real, aboard Blue Origin’s NS-18. Now, according to TrekMovie, Shatner’s flight will complete the circle and land on television this month.

Shatner first announced the documentary, Shatner in Space, at a convention in São Paulo. Amazon Prime Video will carry the one-hour special, which will detail events before, during, and after the flight. Shatner said, “This special documenting my journey gives a dramatic view of that experience and my hope is that it inspires the world to see we must go to space to save Earth.”

Shatner in Space premieres December 15 in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. It will arrive in other countries in early 2022.
