MARCH 23, 2021 - Star Trek’s William Shatner doesn’t watch Star Trek. Really!

Shatner was speaking in an interview with People (the TV show!) on Tuesday, when asked about the last time he actually watched Star Trek, the 90-year-old actor said, “I have never watched Star Trek. There are many episodes I don’t know, there are some movies I don’t know.” He did mention that he had to watch at least one movie - Star Trek V: The Final Frontier - because he directed it.

“But,” he said, “it’s all painful because I don’t like the way I look and what I do.”

One wonders whether he means that Captain Kirk was too well-behaved...because part of the interview was a promo for Shatner’s upcoming film Senior Moment, in which he behaves in a way that is decidedly un-Kirklike. In the movie, which also stars Trek alum Christopher Lloyd, Shatner plays an aging bad boy with a penchant for street racing. When his car gets taken away, he has to find a new way to live - and love - as he learns to slow down both literally and figuratively. His love interest in the story is played by his former $#*! My Dad Says co-star Jean Smart.

Shatner is just coming off the back of his 90th birthday on Monday, where he revealed how he’s preserving himself for the future with AI. And if you’d rather see him on the silver screen, his new film Senior Moment comes out in theatres and on demand this Friday, March 26th.
