MAY 26, 2023 – Anthony Rapp and Wilson Cruz are known to Star Trek fans as Lt. Cmdr. Paul Stamets and Dr. Hugh Culber. Rapp and Cruz also share a history in musical theater by way of the Broadway production, RENT. Now theater is bringing them together again for a talkback following a performance of Rapp’s current solo stage musical, Without You, according to a press release.

Without You offers a powerful and nostalgic journey that pays tribute to the early days of the musical Rent. Anthony Rapp, backed by a talented 5-piece rock band, shares his personal and unforgettable experiences from his time working on the iconic musical, including the tragic loss of RENT's creator, Jonathan Larson, and his mother's battle with cancer. The production has garnered multiple Outer Critics' and Drama Desk nominations, with critics describing it as "nostalgic, gripping, and moving" (Wall Street Journal), "emotionally resonant" (New York Times), and "a supremely moving experience" (Theatermania).

Following the 7:00 p.m. ET performance at New World Stages, in New York City, on Thursday, June 8, Rapp and Cruz will participate in a special Star Trek: Discovery Night event.

"We are thrilled to bring together the electrifying worlds of musical theatre and Star Trek in an unprecedented night of entertainment,'' said Chris Henry, creative producer of Without You. "Audiences will have the unique opportunity to witness the magic of Anthony Rapp's journey, intertwining the iconic musical RENT and his personal story, followed by an engaging talk-back session with Rapp and Wilson Cruz. Together, they will discuss their groundbreaking roles in both the acclaimed series Star Trek: Discovery and Rent, theatre, and the impact of diverse representation in the entertainment industry."
