FEBRUARY 1, 2022 - Paramount+ held an event for the Television Critics Association on Tuesday, and to say there was some good news for Star Trek fans would be like saying there were some tribbles on Deep Space Station K-7. Following the executive presentation, individual panels were held for many of streamer’s flagship shows, and the panel for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds did not disappoint. Among the highlights were the release of a new poster for the highly-anticipated prequel series, along with dramatic confirmation that filming for season two had already begun, courtesy of Ethan Peck zooming into the panel in full Spock costume from set, per the official TCA Twitter account.

As reported by Decider.com Managing Editor Alex Zalban on Twitter, Executive Producer Alex Kurtzman spoke to the striking artwork in the new poster, saying, “Our show speaks to the final frontier when it was at its infancy.” He referenced the “spirit of adventure” reflected in the rendering of Captain Christopher Pike on his horse, gazing up at the majestic figure of the USS Enterprise and the worlds beyond Earth. That spirit adventure is also evident in the poster’s tagline, “The frontier is waiting.”

Also present at the virtual panel were fellow executive producers Akiva Goldsman, and Henry Alonso Myers, as well as cast members Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, and Celia Rose Gooding. Mount noted that the adventurous atmosphere of the franchise was also reflected in real life when he recalled being on set one day, referencing how amazing it was they were filming Star Trek at the same time that William Shatner was actually in space

The Star Trek panels of the day contained additional news and surprises, and we will bring it all to you as the week unfolds at Daily Star Trek News. For now, rest in the knowledge that the spirit of Star Trek is alive and well in Strange New Worlds, which drops on Paramount+ starting May 5th.
