NOVEMBER 14, 2021 - It’s fair to say most fans would be happy to see Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager remastered into high definition. Whether or not - and when - that might happen is anybody’s guess. Star Trek fans on Twitter got a little excited over the weekend as Trek Central quoted Vice President of Star Trek Brand Management John Van Citters saying that remasters of those series “‘will happen’ at some point”. The news was reported following a panel Van Citters participated in at Destination Star Trek in London.

It seems like great news, but it isn’t official…not yet, anyway. Van Citters replied to Trek Central’s tweet, clarifying his statement for the fans. His reply read, “To be fair, I think I said ‘I believe it will happen at some point’ and no one wants it more than I do!”

For now, the official word is that there is no official word. With Star Trek: The Motion Picture getting the 4K treatment, along with some of the footage from both Voyager and Deep Space Nine for their respective documentaries, fans are undoubtedly excited at the prospect of seeing both series remastered. However, the remastering process is not only very expensive, it is technically complex. If Voyager and Deep Space Nine do make it to the table for remastering, we’ll bring you all the details as they are made available.
