JULY 25, 2O22 - Star Trek fans are used to seeing and reading interviews with the people that make Star Trek, whether they are in front of the camera or behind it. The questions and answers can sometimes be, well, let’s say familiar sounding. Now a new video podcast series is here to change that.

Brought to you by the science fiction website and app The Companion, veteran Star Trek writer, editor, and interviewer Ian Spelling is hosting To Boldly Ask…, in which Spelling is challenged to boldly ask questions that have never been asked before.

The first episode of To Boldly Ask… features Spelling’s conversation with another Star Trek veteran, who filled roles on both sides of the camera himself, Jonathan Frakes. According to a press release, Frakes has a perspective that few can match, and Ian Spelling is the person he trusts to share it with. He reveals for the first time stories of behind-the-scenes shenanigans, words of kindness from DeForest Kelley, his regrets that The Next Generation shied away from LGBTQ+ themes, and speaks frankly of the personal hurt caused by social media, as well its effects on how we consume and enjoy pop culture.

To watch To Boldly Ask…, as well as other live stream events, long-form interviews, and original fandom analyses subscribe to The Companion, a science fiction membership website and app.

The premiere episode with Jonathan Frakes is available now, and you can watch a trailer on YouTube.
