SEPTEMBER 8, 2023 – Nearly two years ago, we let you know about LeVar Burton’s plans to host a gameshow version of Trivial Pursuit. Now discussions are underway that could finally bring the show to fruition.

Deadline is reporting that the CW is close to a deal to make Burton’s plans a reality, plans that he announced shortly after he had been passed over to follow Alex Trebek as the permanent host of Jeopardy! The CW is making it clear, though, that the deal isn’t done yet, and their unscripted chief, Heather Olander, said, “[Game shows] are probably the most expensive to launch. They require some marketing dollars. If you don’t have that IP, how do we do it?”

Burton, who will also executive produce the show, which comes via eOne and LeVar Burton Entertainment, said previously, “Trivial Pursuit is one of the best-known brands in the gaming universe. I am thrilled to have partnered with Hasbro and eOne to bring this beloved game to market as a premium show for television.”
