MEME REVIEW MONDAY: An Unholy Merging of Two Franchises and More

MEME REVIEW MONDAY: An Unholy Merging of Two Franchises and More

Hello! Happy Meme Review Monday! I hope y’all are doing well. I know you’ve been waiting all week for this so let’s jump right in!

First up we have a meme submitted by T.Rick’s friend Chris!

I hate everything about this meme and that’s why it’s so beautiful. It’s horrid and it burns my retinas more than a partial solar eclipse. I love both Star Trek and Star Wars and this meme is stomping on both of them. The green millennium falcon is so painful. This effectiveness makes it a perfect meme despite my visceral hatred of it.

Next up we have a meme from @robintreks on Instagram.

This meme technically had a semi philosophical caption above it about the meaning of happiness vs escapism but I decided that was too deep for my Meme Review Monday so instead I just included the silly part of the meme. I’ve really never felt more called out by a meme. Sometimes after a really bad day you just need to go back and watch a silly Star Trek episode about all these silly little guys in space doing monumentally silly things.

Next up we have a meme from @socialistinspace on Instagram.

In case you haven’t heard the news yet, the coming season of Lower Decks will be its last. It’s really devastating to hear and I can’t imagine why Paramount would cancel such a beloved Star Trek show. I haven’t met anyone who dislikes Lower Decks. It somehow managed to make itself the least controversial Star Trek show within the fandom and now they’re canceling it. I’m really sad but I suppose it had to be canceled eventually because as the crew got promoted they would reach a point where they would no longer be lower deckers. Still, it’s sad to see this gem go.

Next up we have a meme sent to me by my friend (hi Alex)!

Captchas these days are getting so difficult. I’m constantly being told I’m a robot and I’m starting to question my own humanity. This meme is very clever. Technically there are 6 lights if you count the lights on Gul Madred’s suit.

Next up we have another meme sent to me by a friend!

This friend actually doesn’t even know I write for DSTN and do Meme Review Mondays; they just know I like Star Trek and sent me this meme. However, despite not knowing about Meme Review Mondays, they managed to send me the perfect Meme Review Monday meme. This is what I do every weekend as I write this article.

Next up we have a meme from @stra-tek on Tumblr.

This meme pretty much summarizes Picard as a character and the plot of Star Trek: Picard. This man desperately needed therapy and a nice hug. All avoiding his childhood trauma did for him was give him more trauma, so it really didn’t work out too well for his mental health.

Next up we have a meme from @stacefinch on Tumblr.

I do not know the context for this meme at all and I love it. The word Borg does definitely sound like it could be Swedish so I could see this. I like that in the mind of the person who made this meme, Ikea is the most Swedish thing. We have the Ikea meatballs and the Ikea Sylt Lingon as the two defining Swedish things in this meme.

Ok that’s all I have for you all this week!! See you next week!
