For those who missed it—and most of you did—“Warp 11”, the hardest rockin’ band in the Alpha Quadrant, put on a high-adrenaline show at Old Ironsides in Sacramento, Friday 21 February.

Warp 11 is a rock band that plays original songs based on Star Trek themes. This was really my first experience with them, and the missus and I went to the show mostly out of respect to some coworkers who are big fans. I expected a mediocre novelty garage band with a big heart—boy, was I wrong! It turns out that Warp 11 is an amazing power band—very tight, and they can rock your socks off!

Before the show, the band chatted up the audience of dedicated fans (we were not the only ones wearing Star Trek uniforms) before starting to play, right on time. It was loud! I recommend ear plugs! But they tore through the set, doing great song after song. Highlight songs included “Help me Spock,” “Red Alert”, “Freebird of Prey,” “Zombie Red Shirts,” and “Jim Beam.” There were no clunkers in the set.

This is not a group for the squeamish, as their music can be really profane. But the show is amazing. Warp 11 is coming out with a new album soon (thank you Kickstarter), but they’ve slowed down their touring schedule. Don’t miss the chance to see them, if you get it!

Note: Warp 11 was at STLV50, so you might remember them from that, and also some of the music bumps on the podcast Mission Log came from this band.
