Shatner: Star Trek fans and WWE fans are “equally nuts” with passion

DECEMBER 19, 2019 - William Shatner has likened Star Trek fans to wrestling fans...and said they’re all “equally nuts”.

Metro.co.uk reported that Shatner appeared this week on WWE Backstage, a pro wrestling studio show that airs on Fox Sports 1. In his appearance, he was asked to compare his Star Trek fanbase to the WWE Universe. He said that the fanbase of the WWE are crazy with passion for the sport, and Star Trek fans aren’t much different. “Now, the Star Trek group are equally nuts,” he said. “But their passion is for Star Trek and me!”

According the Metro piece, Shatner is a fan of wrestling, and has even appeared on the WWE’s Monday Night Raw a couple of times. He appeared in a segment called “King’s Court” in 1995, and in 2010 delivered a medley of his own covers of wrestling entrance theme songs.
