JUNE 8, 2022 - She was the first food stylist for Star Trek permanently on the crew preparing food for the camera, according to Memory Alpha. She was also the wife of Star Trek artist, illustrator, and designer, Doug Drexler. Dorothy Duder has died after a battle with cancer, on July 1, at the age of 69.

Duder created food for the entire run of Star Trek: Enterprise, including that seen in the mess hall, at the captain’s table, and in alien banquets. Outside of Star Trek, her roles included extra, production accountant, and associate producer.

Drexler announced her death on his Facebook page and has gone on to share many memories, photos, and videos of Duder. Mike Okuda shared on Twitter, “She was intensely loyal to those she loved, esp her husband, Doug Drexler, who was the love of her life.”

Drexler said, “Through all of us, and especially those who worked alongside her, she lives on, and she lives through the magic that we are fortunate to be able to create in our work, and our love for one another. Each of us must live a little stronger, bolder, smarter, funnier, altruistically, and lovingly in an attempt to take up the inestimable slack that she left in her stead.”

Please join all of us at Daily Star Trek News in offering our condolences to Doug Drexler and the rest of Dorothy Duder’s family and friends.
