Creation Entertainment’s 55-Year Mission Las Vegas convention is on now

So listen, this weekend? Mostly it’s the convention formerly known as STLV: Creation Entertainment’s 55 Year Mission Las Vegas. However, it’s worth reminding you of some of the regular stuff, and at the end, I’ll recommend some of the best social media accounts to follow if you want to stay up to date on the goings-on in Vegas.

The regular stuff

  • These are the Twitter watchalongs:

    • #allstartrek runs Sunday through Friday at 8/7C and follows the Heroes and Icons Channel’s All Star Trek programme.

    • #TOSSatNight starts at 9pm PT on Saturday night and follows a different episode of The Original Series every week, and

    • #StarTrekHour is a Q&A-format event, every Tuesday at 1pm PT.

  • Then there’s Star Trek: Watch Party, hosted daily and coordinated on Facebook. Every evening, they use the Teleparty browser extension to watch Star Trek together. To find out more, head over to Star Trek: Watch Party on Facebook.

  • Speaking of a Star Trek watch party: the iBlind Users Group hosts Trekkie Talk on the first and third Thursdays of every month. They watch an audio descriptive version of a Star Trek episode and get together virtually to discuss it. To find out how to join in, visit ibugtoday.com/trekkie-talk.

  • And finally, there’s Sid City Social Club, hosted by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine star Alexander Siddig’s official fan website. They meet twice-monthly on the first Tuesday and third Friday of every month, with occasional pop-up meetings with Sid as his schedule allows. For more details, and how you can join in, visit sidcity.net.

55-Year Mission Las Vegas

Okay, so what are some good folks to follow to keep up with what’s happening in Vegas?

  • TrekCore is one of the best. They’re pretty much everywhere, with great insights and context, and they get great photos from the press pit if you’re missing the panels. You can find them at TrekCore.com or on Twitter @TrekCore.

  • Noah Averbach-Katz is our favorite fan-turned-actor, having played Andorian Ryn on the latest season of Star Trek: Discovery. He’s at STLV this year (yes, most folks are still calling it that) and toeing the line between uber-fan and celeb. It’s a treat to follow. You can find him on Twitter @N_A_K.

  • Also there with press credentials, both TrekNews.net and TrekMovie.com are keeping us up to date via social media. They’re @TrekNewsNet and @TrekMovie, respectively.

  • Lastly, be sure to follow Roddenberry Entertainment (@Roddenberry) for updates on all the great programming on the Roddenberry stage, starting every morning with the Mission Log Morning Show. You can watch selected panels online (yes, including the Morning Show!), so follow them on all the socials, and search for Mission Log Morning Show on YouTube every morning this week at 11am PT.
