Star Trek: The Animated Series: History, Myths & Canon - Sunday, August 23rd

Then also on Sunday, after Tribble Talk, flip over to a special panel on Star Trek: The Animated Series, featuring my fellow Roddenberry Podcast Network host Sue Kisenwether, from Women at Warp. The panel is called Star Trek: The Animated Series: History, Myths & Canon, and you can find out more about it on leftfieldmedia.com/LFO.

Escape Velocity Extra: Race and Resistance in Science Fiction - Wednesday, August 26th

Next Wednesday, August 26th, at 7pm ET, Escape Velocity Extra from the Museum of Science Fiction is hosting a pair of talks called “Race and Resistance in Science Fiction”. The panels will be moderated by Aisha Matthews, managing editor of the Journal of Science Fiction. Panel 1 will be a discussion with a selection of authors, experts on race in science fiction, and panel 2 will feature actors Tim Russ and Garrett Wang from Star Trek: Voyager, as well as Peter Macon from The Orville. The talks will cover depictions of race and racism in science fiction.

Tickets to the talks are free, however, in addition to the talks, attendees may also purchase meet-and-greets or pre-recorded messages from the three actors. For more information, head to escapevelocity.events/evx.

Prop Store auction: Wednesday, August 26th - Thursday, August 27th

And finally, next Wednesday and Thursday, August 26th and 27th, Prop Store is having a massive two-day entertainment and memorabilia live auction. It includes plenty of rare and valuable Star Trek stuff, and is worth checking out, if only for the eye candy. You can browse the catalog, and find out how to bid online, at propstore.com.

The regular stuff

Finally, some stuff I’ve told you about before that are still going on:

  • These are the Twitter watchalongs:

    • #allstartrek runs Sunday through Friday at 8/7C and follows the Heroes and Icons Channel’s All Star Trek programme.

    • #StarTrekHour is a Q&A-format event, every Tuesday at 1pm PT.

  • Then there’s Star Trek: Netflix Party, hosted daily and coordinated on Facebook. Every evening, they use the Netflix Party Chrome extension to watch Star Trek together. To find out more, head over to Star Trek: Netflix Party on Facebook.

If you have an online event or gathering you’d like me to promote on the show, let me know! How are YOU getting together with your fellow Trekkies, without leaving the house?
