It’s properly fall now…time to grab a cuppa and head for a virtual Star Trek event

So listen, we could all use a little break this weekend, and let me tell you, Star Trek is just the thing. So if you fancy meeting up with some fellow Trekkies, log on to one of these virtual events.

Trek the Vote for Victory (Joe Biden fundraiser) - Tuesday, October 13th

And finally, the BIG one. The Joe Biden Victory Fund is raising money for the Democratic presidential candidate’s campaign with a huge event featuring 19 Star Trek actors from across 5 series, with fan Q&A, cast panels, and trivia. The event is on Tuesday, October 13th, and starts 6pm ET. Scheduled to appear are: Alison Pill (no relation), Anthony Rapp, Brent Spiner, Evan Evagora, Gates McFadden, George Takei, Isa Briones, Jeri Ryan, Jonathan Del Arco, Jonathan Frakes, Kate Mulgrew, LeVar Burton, Marina Sirtis, Michelle Hurd, Patrick Stewart, Santiago Cabrera, Sonequa Martin-Green, Wil Wheaton and Wilson Cruz. The event will also feature special guests and Trekkies Andrew Yang, Cory Booker, Pete Buttigieg and Stacey Abrams!

You’ll need to make a donation in order to watch; instructions for the event will be emailed to you once you’ve completed your donation through ActBlue.

One small note: this is a political fundraising event, and it’s distinct from the non-partisan election fairness initiative Trek the Vote for Election Fairness. I told you about the name confusion on the two of them earlier this week and I just want to note that it’s exceptionally cool that both campaigns have changed their names to make it easier for people to tell them apart. Huzzah for working together!

The regular stuff

And of course, here’s a recap of the stuff that’s going on every week; if you haven’t joined in yet and you’re at a loose end, now would be a great time to do it.

  • These are the Twitter watchalongs:

    • #allstartrek runs Sunday through Friday at 8/7C and follows the Heroes and Icons Channel’s All Star Trek programme.

    • #TOSSatNight starts at 9pm PT on Saturday night and follows a different episode of The Original Series every week, and

    • #StarTrekHour is a Q&A-format event, every Tuesday at 1pm PT.

  • Then there’s Star Trek: Netflix Party, hosted daily and coordinated on Facebook. Every evening, they use the Netflix Party Chrome extension to watch Star Trek together. To find out more, head over to Star Trek: Netflix Party on Facebook.

  • And finally, Sid City Social Club, hosted by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine star Alexander Siddig’s official fan website, is continuing their twice-weekly livestreams on Fridays and Tuesdays. To find out more, including how to join in, head to sidcity.net.

If you have an online event or gathering you’d like me to promote on the show, let me know! How are YOU getting together with your fellow Trekkies, without leaving the house?

Special thanks to Marina Kravchuk for compiling this week’s events.
