Star Trek: Lower Decks season 2 is coming to Blu-ray and DVD in July 2022

APRIL 25, 2022 - The second season of Star Trek: Lower Decks is coming to Blu-ray and DVD this summer with a July 12 release. Details on the release were published Monday to StarTrek.com. Along with all 10 episodes, the upcoming “second contact” with the series carries more than an hour of bonus features and additional content.

This action-packed media set contains “Easter eggs” and animatics from episodes across the second season, as well as two special featurettes. After the success of the first season finale “No Small Parts” (think “Peanut Hamper”), Lower Decks was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Sound Editing for a half-hour Comedy or Drama Series. The first featurette “A Sound Foundation” takes audiences behind the scenes with the team responsible for bringing the sound of Star Trek: Lower Decks to life. The second video “Lower Decktionary: Season Two”  brings together “interviews with producers, cast and creatives about developing and executing the characters’ journeys in the second season”.

If that weren’t enough, audio commentaries are provided for four of the second season episodes, including:

  • EP 202 "Kayshon, His Eyes Open" by Mike McMahan, Jack Quaid and Jonathan Frakes

  • EP 205 "An Embarrassment of Dooplers" by Mike McMahan and Jack Quaid

  • EP 207 "Where Pleasant Fountains Lie" by Tawny Newsome, Paul Scheer and Garrick Bernard

  • EP 209 "wej Duj" by Mike McMahan, Gabrielle Ruiz and Kathryn Lyn

The second season of Star Trek: Lower Decks on Blu-ray and DVD will be released July 12th. Purchase details have yet to be announced. Season three is due to premiere on Paramount+ later in 2022. Check out the teaser for season three here.
