It could be said that actors just want to act. With social distancing restrictions continuing around the world, it seems as though some actors might be getting a little stir-crazy. Back in May, a group of actors including X-Men: First Class star James McAvoy and Outlander lead Caitriona Balfe, decided to make something for the fans - and for themselves - by releasing a Star Trek spoof filmed entirely on what looks like the front-facing cameras on their phones. The title of the short film is Star Force: Sci-Fisolation and the crazy antics and homemade props are well worth a watch!

Now, the team is at it again having just released a sequel, appropriately named Star Force 2. The Daily Record reported that McAvoy is once again leading the crew of a spaceship looking very similar to the Enterprise-D, into the unknown in an adventure filled with aliens, a cyborg, plenty of humor and some good old fashioned sci-fi action.

Star Force 2, like Star Force: Sci-Fisolation, was directed by Ross Mains, who said that he is very happy with the reception to the sequel. “I'm so grateful to have had the chance to direct such a world class ensemble of actors,” Mains said of the short films. “It's a dream come true for me and working on it has been the world's greatest distraction from [the] lockdown."

The cast of Star Force 2 includes writers Brendan O’Rourke and Kevin Mains, McAvoy and Balfe, Balfe’s co-stars on Outlander Sam Heughan and Steven Cree, A Discovery of Witches star Teresa Palmer, former professional wrestler Mick Foley and even James Kirk. (No, not that James Kirk. A different one.)

Each of these Star Trek-inspired films is only a few minutes long and each is definitely worth spending the time! With great comedy, clever filming styles and multiple nods to the Star Trek franchise, the Star Force films are sure to bring a smile to your face. If you’re interested, Star Force: Sci-Fisolation and Star Force 2 are both available to watch now on YouTube!
