Star Trek: Picard Replacement Discs Are Available

After acknowledging that the first releases of Star Trek: Picard - The Final Season on home video were missing upgraded visuals, Paramount Home Entertainment has announced a plan to replace the discs of fans who purchased the earlier version. 

TrekMovie reported that the new effects can be found in the season finale episode titled "The Last Generation." If you're an owner of Star Trek: Picard – The Final Season or Star Trek: Picard – The Complete Series on Blu-ray or DVD and your set does not include the visual effect, Paramount is offering you an upgrade.

Getting your hands on the enhanced version is a breeze. Simply follow these steps:

1.     Visit the contact form for Paramount Home Entertainment Blu-ray/DVD Support.

2.     Select "Other" for the "Issue Type."

3.     Fill in your contact and mailing information.

4.     In the "Issue Details" section, specify which set you own (e.g., The Final Season or The Complete Series) and indicate which disc you'd like to have replaced.

If you haven't grabbed your copy of the final season yet, you can order it from Amazon on Blu-ray for $31.95. The limited edition Steelbook has already sold out, and the DVD version is temporarily out of stock. However, the complete series set, which includes all three seasons, is available on Amazon on Blu-ray for $59.95 and DVD for $49.99.

The update to the sets has caused a slight delay in the release of the highly anticipated Star Trek: The Picard Legacy Collection. Originally scheduled for October 17th, the new release date is November 7th. Described as "the definitive release for Next Generation fans," this limited edition set is a treasure trove of Star Trek goodness.

Paramounts announcement of replacement discs did leave a few questions unanswered. For those who are purchasing the sets now, it's unclear how to identify the updated versions. Paramount has not provided any details about distinguishing them from the original packaging.

A second question revolves around international buyers. While the release dates for international sets are almost two months later than in the United States, it's uncertain whether these sets will come with the updated scene. Specific confirmation on this matter is currently lacking.
