Star Trek: Voyager fan wows producers with "ready room" complete with Captain Janeway's actual couch

NOVEMBER 1, 2021 - Part of what it is for many of us to be Star Trek fans is to collect stuff that reflects our fandom. From books to bat’leths and bobbleheads to combadges, we stock our bookshelves and other spaces with the objects that help us celebrate a favorite franchise. Some fans, though, take it to another level.

Twitter user Jeremiah posted pictures of his “ready room” over the weekend and drew some surprising attention. Jeremiah is a self-described “Voyager fan boy,” and his ready room includes not just a couch that looks like Captain Janeway’s couch from her ready room but turns out to be the actual couch, which Jeremiah said he intentionally purchased from an It’s A Wrap! auction. (It’s A Wrap! is a store in Burbank, California that sells and auctions wardrobe and props from movie and television sets.) This fact garnered replies from some names we know well.

Star Trek: Short Treks and Picard writer and producer Michael Chabon said that is “certainly preferable to unintentionally or perhaps drunkenly purchasing it.” Star Trek: Lower Decks showrunner Mike McMahan wasn’t so sure, tweeting in reply, “I wish I drunkenly purchased stuff like this! Picard’s lion fish tank shows up at your front door and you have zero memory of bidding on it.”

Star Trek: Prodigy creators Dan and Kevin Hageman simply said, “Wow.”

Congratulations to Jeremiah on scoring an iconic piece of Star Trek furniture. We raise a cup of the finest organic suspension ever devised.
