JANUARY 6, 2023 - On December 23, 2022, DSTN reported here that the Sovereign class starship seen in the Star Trek: Picard season three trailer was, sadly, not the USS Enterprise-E as many had hoped when they’d seen it on screen.  It was confirmed to be another Sovereign-class ship.

That being said, we’ve now gotten some very exciting news that the USS Enterprise-F WILL be making its on-screen appearance in the upcoming series.

The new ship bearing the familiar name was first unveiled in the game Star Trek Online but its appearance in the upcoming series will officially make it part of cannon.

We would obviously love to see our beloved crew, together again on the bridge of the Enterprise, but showrunner Terry Matalas has already told us not to reach for too many of those stars.  He said, “I would caution fans [that the] season does not take place on the Enterprise-F.  It is important, I will say, but it’s not the focus of the season.”

So, while he reminds us that the action takes place on the USS Titan-A, he did drop a clue to those who are paying close attention.  The role that the Enterprise plays will be of some substance in the upcoming season.

Since Matalas has been promising that many fan dreams will be granted this upcoming year, it’s not out of reach (and I’m going off of theory, not confirmation) that we’ll see the crew, on the bridge, taking a tour of it at the very least.

If like me, you find each update to whet your appetite for the new season more and more, then we’ll want to set out calendars, smart devices, and annoying neighbors to remind us to be there, NEXT MONTH as we begin the final chapter of PIC.

For more information as well as to what else the crew will be up to next year, warp over to DenofGeek and catch up on all of the subspace chatter.
