AUGUST 24, 2021 - The 10-month marathon shoot that was Star Trek: Discovery season four has finally wrapped in Toronto, as shared on Twitter by Discovery’s Executive Producer Michelle Paradise. The announcement came with words of gratitude from Paradise, who said of the cast and crew, “I can’t say enough about the effort, teamwork, and heart they brought to this challenging season.”

Shooting for season four began in November 2020, and was originally slated to last until June. Production delays, due at least in part to the COVID-19 pandemic, extended that schedule. Even as various cast members were announcing they had wrapped on the show, others, such as Tara Rosling (who plays Vulcan President of Ni’Var, T'Rina), were seen heading back to Toronto in the past couple of weeks to finish up their scenes. TrekMovie.com reported that Rosling’s return to Toronto cut short her appearance at the 55-Year Mission convention, indicating it wasn’t part of the original plan.

Paradise had shared late last week that she was already hard at work editing footage from season four in her Toronto hotel room, praising the acting range of the Discovery cast. She had also hinted that the writer’s room would be gathering soon to begin breaking down season five, so it’s clear the team behind the Paramount+ flagship Star Trek show is not resting on their laurels.

Paramount+ haven’t yet given an exact release date for Discovery season four, although earlier this year, it was “coming 2021”. While you wait, you can catch up or rewatch the first three seasons, now streaming on Paramount+.
