The official trailer for the Anton Yelchin documentary Love, Antosha premiered Sunday night, at the Hollywood Forever Cemetary’s screening of Star Trek (2009). The screening was presented in benefit of the Anton Yelchin Foundation.

A piece from Jezebel.com explains how Chris Pine was on hand at the film’s screening, to give an introduction to the trailer. While doing his introduction, he said “The film is incredible and I think it’ll show you all different sides of the guy that I knew - this curious, fascinating, complex, strange little dude. [...] We saw him grow up and continue to get stranger, more curious – [about] music and literature and photography. You’ll see all that in here.”

In the trailer, you can see snippets of interviews with Chris Pine and a number of other stars who knew him, among them Kristen Stewart, Jennifer Lawrence and Willem Dafoe. It also shows a number of clips of home movies, and his mother explains the meaning behind the title of the documentary, Love, Antosha.

Anton Yelchin was just 27 when he was killed in a freak accident, pinned between his Jeep Cherokee and the fence, outside his home in Los Angeles. That tragic event happened just weeks before the premiere of Star Trek: Beyond in 2016. His parents have since reached a settlement with the car manufacturer alleging that a defect was responsible. They have also set up the Anton Yelchin Foundation in his honor, with the mission of “empower[ing] and support[ing] young people engaged in creative arts who face career challenges due to debilitating disease or disability.”

You can view the trailer now on YouTube, and the documentary will have a limited release in Los Angeles on August 2nd and in New York on August 9th.
