It’s beginning to look a lot like every other day this year…but with more tinsel

The pace of virtual Star Trek events has not slowed down in the least! So get your calendars out; it’s going to be a busy weekend.

B5 Events presents Armin Shimerman - Saturday, December 12th

First up, at 10am PT on Saturday, December 12th, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine actor Armin Shimerman will be appearing at B5 Events presents The Player. According to the website, “In a B5 Event, we don’t just satisfy our nerdy jonesing, but we get deeper. Patricia [Tallman] leads a conversation into what makes exceptional people tick, how do they stay upright in terrible times, what helped them most on the road to success and where do they find inspiration in dark moments. If you attended our event with Nana Visitor and Alexander Siddig, The Bardo, you know how deep we can go.”

Tickets for the Zoom-based event run from $29.99 and up, and you can get more information at b5events.com.

GalaxyCon Live: Nichelle Nichols - Saturday, December 12th

Also on Saturday, December 12th, but at 3pm ET, Nichelle Nichols will be appearing in a session of virtual photo ops at GalaxyCon Live. Since there’s no Q&A this time (unlike most GalaxyCon Live events), you will need a ticket. Those are in limited supply and cost $100.

To find out more, visit galaxycon.com.

Women at Wassail: A Virtual Holiday Party - Saturday, December 12th

Also starting at 3pm ET on Saturday, December 12th, our sister podcast Women at Warp is holding a virtual holiday party, which runs until 5pm. The event is free but for security reasons, they won’t be posting the Zoom link until close to the time, so they recommend RSVP-ing to the event on Facebook. You can do that at facebook.com/womenatwarp.

Star Trek: The Next Election - Saturday, December 12th

Then a bit later in the day, but also on Saturday the 12th, Star Trek: The Next Election, the celebrity-filled fundraising event for Georgia Democratic Senate candidates Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, is starting at 6pm ET.

For tickets, or to just make a donation, visit electjon.com/startrek.

GalaxyCon Live: Christopher Lloyd (w/Christina Ricci from The Addams Family) - Sunday, December 13th

Moving on to Sunday now, and at 2pm ET on the 13th, Christopher Lloyd is making an appearance at GalaxyCon Live, along with his Addams Family co-star Christina Ricci. This one is a Q&A, so tickets are free, but as usual, they are required. And you can still upgrade to a one-on-one video chat or autograph.

Sir Patrick Stewart and Jason Isaacs at ALLMEP Shine a Light - Tuesday, December 15th

And finally, looking ahead to next week, and across the pond: next Tuesday, December 15th at 1pm ET, Sir Patrick Stewart and Jason Isaacs are appearing at ALLMEP’s Shine a Light benefit. ALLMEP is the Alliance for Middle East Peace and is comprised of over 125 organizations dedicated to facilitating peace between Israelis and Palestinians. The Shine a Light event is a global livestream honoring Israeli and Palestinian peacebuilders.

Daily Star Trek Views - Friday, November 6th

And of course, don’t forget to join me this Friday afternoon at 1pm PT for the live show Daily Star Trek Views on YouTube. I’m looking back at the week’s biggest stories, some stuff that didn’t make it into Daily Star Trek News, and also doing the quickest review ever of this week’s Star Trek: Discovery.

Subscribe now so you don’t miss it; head to youtube.com/dailystartreknews.

The regular stuff

And of course, here’s a recap of the stuff that’s going on every week; if you haven’t joined in yet and you’re at a loose end, now would be a great time to do it.

  • These are the Twitter watchalongs:

    • #allstartrek runs Sunday through Friday at 8/7C and follows the Heroes and Icons Channel’s All Star Trek programme, and

    • #StarTrekHour is a Q&A-format event, every Tuesday at 1pm PT.

  • Then there’s Star Trek: Watch Party, hosted daily and coordinated on Facebook. Every evening, they use the Teleparty browser extension to watch Star Trek together. To find out more, head over to Star Trek: Watch Party on Facebook.

  • And finally, Sid City Social Club, hosted by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine star Alexander Siddig’s official fan website, is continuing their twice-weekly livestreams on Fridays and Tuesdays. To find out more, including how to join in, head to sidcity.net.

If you have an online event or gathering you’d like me to promote on the show, let me know! How are YOU getting together with your fellow Trekkies, without leaving the house?
