It has been said that music is the language of love. And if you love Star Trek, surely one of the purest expressions of that love is through the theme tune of your favorite series. Now, a talented violinist has performed a rendition of all seven TV series themes (excluding The Animated Series), seamlessly arranged together to form an evolution of the music over time.

In a YouTube video, Rebeca Sanchez, half of the duo known as VioDance, performs the themes on violin, edited onto famous sets from across the Star Trek franchise. She appears on the bridge of various Enterprises, on Deep Space Nine, and even on La Sirena, Captain Cris Rios’ ship from Star Trek: Picard.

VioDance is made up of Sanchez and her partner Davor Jelacic. They reside in Spain, where they record music and shoot videos in their home studio. In the description for the Star Trek video, they said, “We put a lot of effort in this video since we can’t go outdoors to shoot anymore [...] we made the best we could with what we had at home.”

Head over to VioDance’s channel on YouTube to watch the video for yourself. And while you’re there, you may also want to check out some of their other covers, like the Pirates of the Caribbean theme or the Game of Thrones theme. They’ve also got a few game theme tunes like Assassin’s Creed and The Legend of Zelda, as well as some pop music covers and original albums. It’s a YouTube hole well worth getting lost in for a while.
