APRIL 26, 2023 – Now that you have, perhaps, taken your virtual stroll around the bridge of the “restored” USS Enterprise-D, you might want to have a look at her from the outside. Fear not, though, you will not have to endure a spacesuit and gravity boots, just a trip to the National Film and Sci-Fi Museum in Milton Keynes, UK.

According to a Facebook post from the museum, the four-foot studio model used in season three of Star Trek: Picard was recreated using parts cast from the original production molds. The original Enterprise-D was built by Greg Jein, and the current model was “painstakingly restored over the past year and a half with the help of Star Trek archivists and ILM model makers to bring this model back to life to look how it would have done on the very first day of filming.”

The National Film and Sci-Fi Museum is dedicated to the preservation, restoration, and exhibition of the art, skills, and dedication represented in the artifacts and relics that are created and used for only a very short time to make films and television shows before being discarded.

The Enterprise-D model is expected to be on display sometime this summer.

More information is available at the National Film and Sci-Fi Museum.
