"Speaking of Excellence" Featuring George Takei: Thursday, April 27

George Takei will be the first speaker in the new “Speaking of Excellence” series at the Indiana University Auditorium. The event gets started TONIGHT at 7:00 p.m. ET, and more information and tickets are available at IU Auditorium.

Calgary Expo: Thursday, April 27 – Sunday, April 30

Jonathan Frakes and Todd Stashwick are scheduled to appear at Calgary Expo, taking place at Stampede Park, in Calgary, Alberta. (Frakes will not be there on Thursday.) All the details are at FanExpoHQ.

Chiller Theatre Toy, Model, and Film Expo: Friday, April 28 – Sunday, April 30

Bob Gunton, Olivia D'Abo, and Brian Bonsall will be attending the expo, happening at the Hilton Parsippany, in Parsippany, New Jersey. Head over to Chiller Theatre for more information.

Hailing Frequencies Open Speaker Series with Jayne Brook: Saturday, April 29

Join Jayne Brook, hosting a discussion on medicine, genetics, DNA, and careers in the life sciences. Her guests will include Dr. Mohamed Noor, Dr. Audrey Lin, and Dr. Norman Johnson. The free livestream begins at 10:00 a.m. PT/1:00 p.m. ET on the Nichelle Nichols Foundation’s YouTube channel.

·These are the Twitter watchalongs:

o   #allstartrek runs Sunday through Friday at 8/7C and follows the Heroes and Icons Channel’s All Star Trek programme.

o   #TOSSatNight starts at 9pm PT on Saturday night and follows a different episode of The Original Series every week, and

o   #StarTrekHour is a Q&A-format event, every Tuesday at 1pm PT.

·Then there’s Star Trek: Watch Party, hosted daily and coordinated on Facebook. Every evening, they use the Teleparty browser extension to watch Star Trek together. To find out more, head over to Star Trek: Watch Party on Facebook.

·Speaking of a Star Trek watch party: the iBlind Users Group hosts Trekkie Talk on the first and third Thursdays of every month. They watch an audio descriptive version of a Star Trek episode and get together virtually to discuss it. To find out how to join in, visit ibugtoday.com/trekkie-talk.

·But wait, there’s more watch partying: Club IDIC hosts a weekly watch party and discussion at 6pm Alberta Time every Friday. The schedule and Zoom links are available at the Club IDIC Facebook page.

·Virtual Trek Con presents The Main Viewer every Tuesday - a live discussion show on YT with occasional special guests and an open chat geared towards fan interaction.

·Disco Does DnD - livestream DnD game with DSC actors on Twitch, every Sunday at 1pmPT/4pmET.

· Join Grey Havens Philosophy and Outworld Brewing every first Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. as they discuss the big ideas inspired by Star Trek. The gatherings are at Outworld Brewing, in Longmont, Colorado. Attendance is free, but an RSVP for planning purposes is appreciated at Eventbrite.

·And finally, there’s Sid City Social Club, hosted by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine star Alexander Siddig’s official fan website. They meet twice monthly on the first Tuesday and third Friday of every month, with occasional pop-up meetings with Sid as his schedule allows. ·Ongoing through May 4, 2023, the Science Museum in London, UK is hosting the immersive exhibition Science Fiction: Voyage to the Edge of Imagination. Visit the Science Museum for more information and to order tickets.

·Ongoing through October, Starship Edsel is a Star Trek inspired farce set aboard the Federation Starship Edsel towards the end of the 24th century. It is based upon a LARP written and developed by Brandon Brylawski, who is also a producer and head writer on this show. Performances take place at the Otherworld Theatre, in Chicago. ·Ongoing through March 2024, the National Museum of African American History and Culture hosts the exhibition, “Afrofuturism: A History of Black Futures,” which includes a uniform worn by Nichelle Nichols.
