Humans to Mars Summit: ongoing through today

The Summit we told you about yesterday continues today. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Melissa Navia will be on two panels on Thursday. At 4:00 ET Navia will participate in the discussion of “Entertainment Industry in Space: From Star Trek to Space Reality.” Then at 4:50 p.m. ET she will pilot over to “Mars Can Unite the World.”

Motor City Comic Con: Friday, May 19 – Sunday, May 21

Jonathan Frakes, Brent Spiner, Jason Isaacs (Sat & Sun), Christopher Lloyd, and Mark Sheppard (Sat & Sun) are scheduled to appear in the Detroit suburb of Novi at the Suburban Collection Showplace. For more information, start your engines and motor over to Motor City Comic Con.

Hailing Frequencies Open: Walter Koenig: Saturday, May 20

Join host Larry Nemecek for the latest in the Nichelle Nichols Foundation’s speaker series. The conversation with Walter Koenig happens at 10:00 a.m. PT / 1:00 p.m. ET on the Foundation’s YouTube channel.

Trek Long Island: Saturday, May 20 – Sunday, May 21

A multitude of Star Trek guests from on- and off-screen will be attending the first Trek Long Island, hosted by Library for the Kind, and taking place at the Hyatt Regency Long Island, in Hauppauge, New York. All the details are at Trek Long Island.

The Sisko Day: Monday, May 22

Join Cirroc Lofton, Ryan T. Husk, Melissa Longo, and their guests to celebrate Captain Sisko and all that entails. More information is coming soon and will be found at The Sisko Day.

The Regular Stuff

·These are the Twitter watchalongs:

o   #allstartrek runs Sunday through Friday at 8/7C and follows the Heroes and Icons Channel’s All Star Trek programme.

o   #TOSSatNight starts at 9pm PT on Saturday night and follows a different episode of The Original Series every week, and

o   #StarTrekHour is a Q&A-format event, every Tuesday at 1pm PT.

·Then there’s Star Trek: Watch Party, hosted daily and coordinated on Facebook. Every evening, they use the Teleparty browser extension to watch Star Trek together. To find out more, head over to Star Trek: Watch Party on Facebook.

·Speaking of a Star Trek watch party: the iBlind Users Group hosts Trekkie Talk on the first and third Thursdays of every month. They watch an audio descriptive version of a Star Trek episode and get together virtually to discuss it. To find out how to join in, visit ibugtoday.com/trekkie-talk.

·But wait, there’s more watch partying: Club IDIC hosts a weekly watch party and discussion at 6pm Alberta Time every Friday. The schedule and Zoom links are available at the Club IDIC Facebook page.

·Virtual Trek Con presents The Main Viewer every Tuesday - a live discussion show on YT with occasional special guests and an open chat geared towards fan interaction.

·Disco Does DnD - livestream DnD game with DSC actors on Twitch, every Sunday at 1pmPT/4pmET.

· Join Grey Havens Philosophy and Outworld Brewing every first Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. as they discuss the big ideas inspired by Star Trek. The gatherings are at Outworld Brewing, in Longmont, Colorado. Attendance is free, but an RSVP for planning purposes is appreciated at Eventbrite.

·And finally, there’s Sid City Social Club, hosted by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine star Alexander Siddig’s official fan website. They meet twice monthly on the first Tuesday and third Friday of every month, with occasional pop-up meetings with Sid as his schedule allows. ·Ongoing through October, Starship Edsel is a Star Trek inspired farce set aboard the Federation Starship Edsel towards the end of the 24th century. It is based upon a LARP written and developed by Brandon Brylawski, who is also a producer and head writer on this show. Performances take place at the Otherworld Theatre, in Chicago. ·Ongoing through March 2024, the National Museum of African American History and Culture hosts the exhibition, “Afrofuturism: A History of Black Futures,” which includes a uniform worn by Nichelle Nichols.

·Ongoing Saturdays through June 3, join To Boldly Go for a Star Trek variety show and benefit, starting at 6 p.m. ET at the Barracuda Lounge in New York City. Included are drag shows, 2-for-1 drinks, bingo & trivia, and prizes & giveaways. Free tickets are available at Eventbrite.
