MARCH 9, 2022 - A bearded Christopher Pike appears to have been waiting on something for some time in his isolated (apart from a smattering of wind turbines), snowed-in house. A call comes in and sets his communicator chirping. So begins the new adventures we only have to wait a mere 57 days for.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is set to premiere May 5, and Paramount+ has finally released a new trailer to tide us over.

After the call arrives, Pike rides his horse through the snow to meet what looks like an arriving updated version of a Galileo shuttlecraft. A voice says, “Chris, I need you back, Captain.”

Then we are treated to a series of beautiful, wide scenes from, well, strange new worlds. The narration says, in part, that “no matter what the mathematical probabilities, or the number of times we say we are not alone in the universe, our first visit from the stars is always the province of children’s stories and science fiction, until one day…it isn’t.”

And then we see the USS Enterprise warping ahead and Captain Christopher Pike – sans beard, and in uniform – looking out a window at a field of stars.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will be arriving on Paramount+, but until then, head over to YouTube to watch the new trailer.
